3 Signs Your Foundation Needs To Be Repaired

The foundation of your house needs to be strong and sturdy. When it is damaged, you need to get it repaired quickly. Otherwise, the damage could spread throughout your house. If you aren't sure what some of the signs of foundation damage are, you may not get it fixed as soon as you should. Knowing those signs is important so that you can act as quickly as possible.

Bouncy Floors

If your floors are bouncy or springy when you walk on them, that can be a sign that your foundation is failing. The floors might also squeak or creak or have areas that are sagging. These can all be signs that your foundation has started to settle or that the support beams that run under your floor are starting to rot or don't have the support they need. If you can look at your foundation, you can look at it and see if you can see any damage. If you can't or aren't sure you would know damage if you saw it, you should have a contractor check your foundation out.

Gaps Between Wall and Window

As your foundation fails, the walls of your home will start to pull away from the window frames and the door frames. That will leave gaps. It is generally a slow process, and you won't necessarily notice that it is happening. Eventually, you will see when the gap has become obvious. By that time, your foundation generally has some serious problems, and you should have a foundation repair contractor out to your house as soon as possible so that they can give you your repair options.

Warped Siding

The siding on your house is there to protect the outside of your house. If you notice that the siding is starting to warp, crack, or buckle, there is a problem. While it could be a problem with the siding, it is more likely that it is a problem with your foundation, especially if there are gaps between the pieces of the siding. It may not seem like problems with your siding can show that you have problems with your foundation, but the siding is attached to the walls, and as the foundation fails, the walls will shift. Shifting walls cause warping and cracking.

If you are worried about your house's foundation, the faster you act on your worries, the better off your home will be. Contact a foundation repair contractor as soon as possible.
